New Table

We actually bought some real furniture.  This is the first time in my married life so it's a big deal. Curtains are being shipped by Target. Still hunting for the perfect rug.

Lego Party part 2: DIY Lego party hats

T had high expectations for his lego party hats.

Pinterest was full of ideas but the thought of turning a half dozen box lids into square lego hats didn't seem quite right. While we were at the store T saw brightly colored cone party hats. It gave me an idea.
They were so easy to make although they took a little time.

Lego Block Hats

Supplies:
Inexpensive cone shaped party hats
Matching color construction paper
Glue
Scissors

Instructions:

Cut squares or desired brick shapes from conatruction paper.
Cut desired number of small circle connectors from construction paper.
Cut short and narrow rectangles (abt an inch long and cm wide) from construction paper. These will give your connectors depth.

Accordion fold the rectangular pieces. I found two or three folds was all it needed. Glue one emd of it to the square and the other to a "connector". Repeat for the desired connectors. Glue the entire "brick" on the front of the hat.
Done!

Nursery Rhyme Inversion

This morning T has been chanting:

1, 2 unbuckle my shoe
3, 4 open the door
5, 6 throw down sticks
7, 8 don't lay them straight
9, 10 a teeny tiny hen!

Oh my!

Now We Name Crickets

For a year or more we've had a gecko. A leopard gecko to be precise. This gecko is a favorite pet of T and F. They spend a good amount of time staring at Norbert. He seems to like the attention, and will often come up to the glass, standing on his hind paws, staring back unblinking.

What particularly captivates the children is watching Norbert eat. Now Norbert subsists on mealworms and crickets. Watching him hunt crickets is quite entertaining.

This evening T was staring in the cricket keeper. "There are three crickets left," he announced, "so ill name them Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego!"
Great. So now we name the lizard's food.
